That is why politicians called for not handling fireworks on New Year's Eve.

But are fireworks now banned?

No, but there are restrictions.

Anyone looking for fireworks in the local trade this year is looking through the stovepipe into the mountains, because this year too, the sale of all kinds of New Year's Eve crackers was prohibited by politicians.

The reason: Incorrect scope with fireworks can lead to serious injuries.

With the sales ban, the political decision-makers wanted to prevent unnecessary injuries from occurring, which would cause unnecessary extra work for the already heavily stressed clinic staff or - in the worst case - take away the beds of corona intensive care patients.

Fireworks are generally allowed

However, this does not mean that fireworks are generally prohibited. Here in the district, too, there was uncertainty about the exact, legally binding rules for New Year's Eve. Therefore, the Wochen KURIER asked the police headquarters Swabia South / West. Police press spokesman Holger Stabik gave information and made it clear: Basically, you can shoot. But there are a couple of things to look out for. Firstly, only fireworks that have been tested and approved in accordance with German safety standards may be ignited. Since there is no sale in this country this year, some people may feel tempted to buy greats from abroad or to order on the Internet. Caution is advised here, because igniting such unchecked New Year's Eve crackers is punishable under the German Explosives Act.There is a risk of imprisonment of up to three years or severe fines of up to 50,000 euros. Police spokesman Stabik therefore urgently advises against using unchecked New Year's Eve crackers such as those from the Czech Republic or Austria.

In terms of criminal law, the Corona contact restrictions will also play a role this New Year's Eve. New Year's Eve is a social festival and setting off fireworks is often a community affair. According to the current legal situation in Bavaria, private meetings of vaccinated and convalescent people are currently limited to ten people indoors and outdoors (not including children under 14 years of age). As soon as an unvaccinated person is present, the contact restrictions for unvaccinated people apply: A household may only meet with one other person - regardless of whether there are vaccinated or convalescent in the group. In other words: If you are planning a fireworks display in the neighborhood, ten people can be together - provided they are all vaccinated or have recovered. However, as soon as someone who has been re-vaccinated is present,may he only enjoy the company of one household or vice versa.

There are also bans on assemblies in certain public places.

Here, too, you are not allowed to bark, just like in designated prohibited areas such as in inner cities, in which there are half-timbered houses or other fire-prone buildings.

Conclusion: You can confidently ignite your remaining stocks of fireworks, if checked, but must pay attention to the applicable contact restrictions.
