What a sight: around 5,000 little yellow animals floated down the Zeiselbach in the duck race of the Rotary Club Tegernsee.

But it wasn't just the participants and spectators who had reason to be happy.

Bad Wiessee

– The return of the bright yellow rubber ducks was a complete success: after a two-year Corona break, around 5,000 specimens of the cute little animals sailed again across the Wiesseer Zeiselbach in the direction of Tegernsee in the duck race of the Rotary Club Tegernsee.

About 2500 spectators cheered - but had to be patient before the first duck reached its destination due to the low water level.

But the spectacle was always fun - and in the end not only the participants who had acquired racing licenses benefited, but also the day-care centers in the valley.

Pastor Weber accepts the new Rotary Daycare Mobile

Shortly before the actual start of the fun competition, Rotary President Walter Hagemeier was able to hand over the Rotary Daycare Mobile funded by the duck race to Pastor Martin Weber.

The car should help to keep the eight day-care centers of the Evangelical Church in the Tegernsee Valley running smoothly, according to a press release.

The women of the Inner Wheel Club Tegernsee and the members of the Rotary youth organization Rotaract Oberland also took part in the duck race this year.

According to the press release, Pastor Weber was impressed by the volunteer work of the Rotary Club Tegernsee and appreciated the commitment to what he said was “a good cause for the benefit of our smallest members of society”.

The duck races have already raised 150,000 euros

President Hagemeier proudly looks back on what has been achieved so far: "We have so far raised around 150,000 euros in proceeds from seven duck races, all of which has gone to non-profit organizations in the valley." The President is particularly pleased about the support of the duck race by the local economy : In the Tegernsee Valley alone, commercial enterprises would have made prizes worth around 14,000 euros available.

In addition, many retailers and banks supported the charity event by selling the racing licenses in advance.

Around 5000 such licenses had been sold before the race.

"The response was huge," says Christian Borsche, spokesman for the Rotary Club.

One can only be satisfied with the new edition of the race after Corona.
