On the eighth day of NASA's mission to the Moon, the Orion spacecraft snapped a photo taken by a camera located on one of the capsule's solar panels.
Orion also took close-up images of the Moon's crater as it made its closest approach, passing about 129 kilometers above its surface.
The 25 1/2-day journey will take the capsule on the Artemis I mission more than 40,000 miles beyond the far side of the Moon.
If Orion completes its journey and returns to Earth, it will be the farthest a spacecraft intended to carry humans has ever traveled.
