Feldafing - the bad mood in the fire brigade - got over the biggest construction site at the end of last year.

In the new year, Mayor Bernhard Sontheim expects construction sites in the true sense of the word - especially around the fire station, the poor condition of which has caused the bad atmosphere, among other things.

In order to make Appelhans-Weg more usable in the short term, the old police station must be included in the planning.

"Upgrading the fire station has top priority," says Mayor Bernhard Sontheim.

The conditions there were the reason for Commander Dirk Schiecke's resignation, which he had withdrawn in view of the announced suggestions for improvement.

Now the floor is to be given a non-slip coat of paint, the hose tower ladder is to be renewed and an office for the commander is to be separated from the assembly room.

The town hall and helpers have also found a solution for the cramped situation in the changing rooms: in the current meeting room, the idea of ​​an extension is off the table.

And this is where the Old Police House comes into play.

It's still damp and in need of renovation, but once the renovation work is done, the fire brigade tenant will move into the old police building, and the fire brigade can also use the upper floor of her house.

The problem with the listed old police building is the humidity.

For the renovation, the affected two apartments must be empty.

"We need a completely new electrical system, a new heating installation and hot water preparation," says Sontheim.

In addition, the outer walls should be insulated.

The ground floor apartment is currently uninhabited, it is to be occupied by the tenant of the fire station after the renovation.

The second apartment is temporarily vacated - the tenant moves into the Villa Maria, the old town hall, for the time of the renovation.

It is unclear how long the renovation will take.

"It depends on how the craftsmen are available," says the mayor.

Actually, the windows should be renewed.

You have to coordinate this with the monument protection authority, says Sontheim.

Location for a tool shed

The measures for a better space situation in the fire station have significantly improved the mood in the fire department, is Sontheim's impression.

Many helpers have withdrawn their resignations.

"But what we are doing is not a permanent solution, we have to build a new fire station." The location chosen by the municipal council at the "Makarska Grill" in the council chambers became obsolete due to the citizens' petition to keep the restaurant.

Sontheim takes the vote seriously – he refuses to wait until the decision is binding for a year and then simply continue with the planning.

"We have to use the year 2023 to think about the overall concept," he says.

"The new fire station, the restaurant, the shooting range in the basement of the restaurant: for me it's all connected."

When looking for a fire brigade site, the municipality has to start from scratch again.

The Lipp meadow will be examined more closely, says Sontheim.

"But I think this location is becoming more and more impossible." Among other things, because of the species protection test.

The Lipp-Wiese had emerged from the previously possible locations for a new fire station.

A meadow on Traubinger Moosweg, the current location of the tool shed and the area opposite the town hall were also up for debate.

Sontheim can imagine a restaurant there.

The question about the location of the fire brigade is more difficult, the question about the inn and shooting range for Sontheim is easier.

A tavern with a shooting range could be built on the slope opposite the town hall.

Because he has serious doubts that the preservation of the council chambers, as demanded by the referendum, pays off.

"We are currently having reports made for the 'Makarska Grill', for the fire protection, the kitchen equipment and the building fabric and whether it is worth renovating the building." If this is not the case, a new location for a Publicly owned tavern.

And then the old shooters could also be taken into account.

According to Sontheim, the shooters, who currently have their home in the basement of the council chambers, could also find space in the basement of one of the planned administration buildings next to the town hall.

This is also a project that will be further developed in 2023.

"I want to know what we're doing by the end of the year," says Sontheim.

"Then we can start planning.

But we have to take this time.

And the local council must be clear about the financial consequences.”

The renovation of the listed lido will also be expensive, but it is still unclear how expensive it will be.

The City Council will receive an estimate in the near future.

"The kitchen planning is now complete, based on this comes the planning for heating, ventilation and plumbing and the electrical planning," says the mayor, explaining the status quo.

There are also discrepancies with the State Office for the Preservation of Monuments.

Clinic area, living space and energy district

By the summer it should be clear in which form the investor C7 will use the old clinic area at Dr.

Appelhans-Weg can build.

"We will create the conditions for C7 to be able to build, which corresponds to our urban planning ideas," says the mayor.

"We want to create a building permit, as we and C7 envision it." As is well known, the urban planning competition was successful, but the winner did not want to pursue his design any further.

Affordable living space is to be created on Fritz-Stöckl-Weg.

The municipality has made its property available to the Housing Association.

Sontheim hopes that the association will follow the project, at least up to the planning stage, despite the difficult market environment.

A lot will also happen in 2023 when it comes to climate protection.

The Feldafinger town hall has already covered a good part of the way to climate neutrality.

"We won't reach our goal this year, but we're on the right track," says Sontheim.

The energy district is to be connected in the course of 2023.

Then the fire station, old police station, assisted living, gymnasium and kindergarten will be supplied by two combined heat and power plants.

Energy comes from photovoltaic systems, including on the building yard.
