Motorways in the Netherlands will in future have a maximum speed of 100 kilometers per hour. That's what the Dutch government decided. The measure is intended to significantly reduce the emission of nitrogen oxides.
Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte said the country's speed limit would be cut to a maximum of 100 km / h throughout the country. However, reducing top speed is only part of a package of emergency measures to reduce nitrogen oxides.
Previously, Ruttes government had fallen into a crisis because thousands of construction projects across the country were being adjudicated, as the country has been exceeding the emission limits of the European Union for years. The emissions in the country come mainly from livestock farms, cars and trucks as well as the construction industry.
