Météo France placed the Landes and the Gironde on Sunday, May 10, red rain and flood alert. It has been raining heavily on the two departments for several hours. At the same time, around twenty other departments (in the center, South-West, East and Ile-de-France) are on orange alert.
In the Southwest, the amounts of rain forecast in 24/48 hours could therefore be close to the centennial values in places.
Between Sunday morning and Monday mid-day, the periods of heavy precipitation will be linked.
According to our partner La Chaîne Météo, the heavy rains persist this afternoon near the Garonne where the most sustained thunderstorm rains are concentrated. Other rains and thunderstorms will rise from Charente-Maritime to Auvergne but also over Languedoc.
This Sunday evening, the strong rainy-stormy episode continues near the Garonne. It intensified from Charente-Maritime to Auvergne then on Roussillon and Var.
Tonight, the heavy rain-storm continues to affect the departments near the Garonne and particularly that of the Gironde with the critical period. Further north, those that touched the departments of Vendée in Auvergne now extend north towards the Center and Grand Est regions. Over the south-east, the intensity of the rains remains fairly sustained, but in partial decline compared to the evening.
