The first play written only by machines is called 'THEaiTRE'. The goal is to use artificial intelligence to create innovative theatrical works and it was started in the Czech Republic, a century after the theatrical representation in which the term 'robot' was coined. The first is expected in January 2021.
This is what emerges from the preliminary study published in the arXiv online archive, which collects research not yet approved by the scientific community. The authors are the team of the Carolina University of Prague, coordinated by Rudolf Rosa, together with the experts from the Prague Academy of Performing Arts and the Švanda Theater in the Czech capital.
"The idea was born to celebrate the anniversary of 100 years ago, readjusting the plot of the original play thanks to artificial intelligence," said Rosa. “A century ago man wrote a play on robots. We therefore asked ourselves what the result would be if robots today wrote a theatrical comedy about human beings ”.
To achieve this, Rosa and her colleagues decided to divide the production of the work into several sub-sections. The goal is to have a text ready for the actors in September, so as to be able to go on stage, compatibly with the health safety rules related to the pandemic, at the beginning of 2021.
