Examining magistrate Sabine Kheris, in charge of the investigation into the murders attributed to Michel Fourniret, ordered the exhumation of the body of a woman, buried under X in October 1997 in Yonne, indicates a source close to the dossier this Tuesday.
According to the Republican Yonne, who revealed the information, the body of this unidentified woman was being exhumed on Tuesday.
She was discovered on October 5, 1997, then buried six days later in Mont-Saint-Sulpice, near Auxerre.
“At the time of its discovery by an inhabitant of the village, the corpse, in a state of decomposition, was bare.
He was lying in a ditch and was covered with branches, along a path located below the town, ”according to the regional daily.
Exhuming this body could make it possible to compare the DNA of it to different traces found on a mattress seized in 2003 in a house in Ville-sur-Lumes (Ardennes), near Charleville-Mézières.
It is in this house, says the ex-wife of the serial killer, now 78 years old, that he would have raped and killed Estelle Mouzin.
Fourniret hospitalized in intensive care, but "conscious"
Michel Fourniret, sentenced in 2008 to life imprisonment for the murder of seven young women and suspected of several other crimes, ended up confessing in March his responsibility in the disappearance and murder of Estelle Mouzin, after revelations from his ex-wife, Monique Olivier.
He was indicted in November 2019 for "kidnapping and forcible confinement followed by death" in this case.
In this investigation, several excavations were recently carried out in the Ardennes by Sabine Kheris, who resumed the investigations in 2019. According to a source close to the file, new excavations are planned for the beginning of December.
