A 37-year-old man called the gendarmes to tell them that he had just committed a double parricide in Pange, in Moselle, on Tuesday

Sounds of gunshots broke the morning calm in a Moselle village at dawn on Wednesday.

A 37-year-old man shot and killed his father and mother, both in their 60s.

The tragedy took place in Pange, a town of some 800 inhabitants located in Moselle, not far from Metz.

The thirty-something then committed suicide, indicates the Metz prosecutor's office.

A resident of the village tells in "Le Républicain Lorrain", which revealed the information, having heard gunshots around 6:45 am on Wednesday.

According to the prosecution, the sponsor of this family drama "was in contact with the gendarmerie" early in the morning.

He himself had decided to warn the soldiers by telephone, to tell them that he "had killed his parents with a gun".

"The gendarmes have found the deceased person"

“The exchange between the gendarmes and the son took place until 8 am or 9 am and the gendarmes intervened around 11 am”, specifies the prosecution.

A gendarmerie device was then set up, but it was too late.

"When the gendarmes intervened, they found the deceased person", tells the prosecution, which estimates that the suicide occurred in the two or three hours of beat between the telephone exchange and the arrival of the soldiers on the spot .

An investigation must now determine the causes of the double parricide, and also specify the exact time of the deaths, which has not yet been determined.

Autopsies of the victims are scheduled for Friday, said the prosecution.
