Several people were arrested after a failed attempt to rob a van which did not kill anybody, Friday morning on a motorway area south of Lyon, we learned from a source close to the investigation.
According to the regional daily Le Progrès, which revealed the information, the van was the target of automatic weapon fire but these were not confirmed to AFP.
Police and gendarmerie intervened quickly in the Solaize area, in the Lyon-Marseille direction on the A7 motorway, after being alerted by witnesses.
The judicial police were able to make several arrests but suspects are still wanted.
The criminals tried to block the van which was carrying notes or precious metals but the vehicle managed to extricate itself, said the source close to the investigation.
The two conveyors are unharmed.
A car used by the attackers was found set on fire.
For the moment, there is no precision on what contained the van.
