Five first start-ups have just been selected by the TechTheMoon incubator based in Toulouse (Haute-Garonne), dedicated exclusively to

Launched in June in Toulouse, TechTheMoon, the world's first incubator exclusively dedicated to the Moon, presented on Tuesday in the Pink City the first five start-ups selected to meet the challenges of lunar missions.

These nuggets, coming from all over France, will be supported for a year by teams from CNES and Nubbo, the regional start-up incubator.

The start-up Spartan Space, based in the Var, has, for example, been selected for its space habitat project for the exploration of the Moon or Mars.

“We have already devised a prototype called EuroHab, designed as a moon landing payload,” explains Peter Weiss, president of Spartan Space.

This is the first development of an inflatable lunar habitat, which makes it possible to offer more living space.

It also includes a mobility feature to have a habitat capable of moving on the surface of the Moon.

Applications on Earth

To keep their head in the moonlight, companies keep their feet on the ground. "The idea of our incubator is to find technologies that can be deployed on the Moon but also on the Earth to meet a need of the market and of society", underlines Thomas Fouquet, advisor to the director in charge of innovation, applications and of science at CNES. The Spartan Space project could thus find an application under the sea.

An innovation that could interest NASA, spearhead of the Artemis project providing for the return of man to the Moon by 2024. EuroHab would indeed allow astronauts to have a mobile habitat for exploration missions far from their base. fixed life.

It could also serve as a refueling node for surface vehicles.

The selected startups now have one year to complete their projects.
