When in 1996 the X64 project was transformed into the Scénic compact minivan, which filled the gap between the small Twingo and the more 'important' Espace, what the public immediately showed to appreciate was Renault's courage to innovate shapes and volumes, bringing something on the market that wasn't there.

Now, twenty-six years later, the Casa della Losanga decides to link this name to an even more innovative project, since it embraces not only the new propulsion systems - 100% electric and hydrogen fuel cell - but also a radical approach to use. of recycled materials and the possibility of recovering 95% of the vehicle at the end of its life.

Unveiled as a Vision, that is, as a research model that could turn into a production car in 2024, Renault Scénic breaks all links with the past, abandoning the proportions of MPV in favor of a crossover car body, also in the C segment.

" All our commitments as a company are not enough if we do not apply them to our vehicles - said Luca de Meo, CEO of Renault at the time of unveiling Scénic Vision in Paris, on the occasion of ChangeNOW 2022 - which is why I asked the Renault teams to develop the first concept car that perfectly embodied our new ESG strategy and its 3 pillars: environment, safety and inclusion. We called it Scénic Vision. Scénic, like our iconic voiture à vivre, and Vision because it responds to people's new expectations " .

Renault Scénic Vision is therefore the embodiment of the brand's 'zero CO2' vision, with zero-emission engines, the use of decarbonised materials and responsible production in carbon neutral plants.

Renault Scénic Vision therefore pursues the goal of reducing its carbon footprint by 75% compared to classic electric vehicles.

An example of this is the decision to consider for Scénic complementary solutions to the electric offer to meet all the needs of long journeys.

Hydrogen is one of the technological solutions that facilitate the use of electric vehicles.

This process has already started today by Renault in light commercial vehicles with Hyvia,

Renault Scénic Vision, the real beauty lies in the fight against CO2

Having achieved this result in commercial vehicles, Renault is also evaluating the possibility of implementing this technology in passenger cars, to exploit the hydrogen networks that will be developed.

The electric-hydrogen versatility has been designed to reduce the carbon footprint and allow all uses.

Thanks to hydrogen, produced with renewable energy without CO2e emissions, users can count on a great ease of use, but also on a low carbon footprint.

If produced sustainably (green hydrogen), hydrogen can be used as clean energy for many applications, especially for mobility.

But the design of the new Scénic - which also offers relatively little credible interior furnishings for a production car - also goes towards 'pushed' recyclability solutions: 95% of the materials that make up the concept car, including the battery, are recyclable.

A new way of designing also includes hitherto unexplored solutions and technologies.

Outside, the materials used (steel, aluminum and plastic) are all recyclable at the end of their life.

Inside, everything has been responsibly designed.

For example, the seat foam, fabrics and seams are all made of one material, 100% recycled and recyclable polyester.

They detach easily from the structures and since they are not pigmented they are even more easily recoverable.

Built on an ad hoc platform, which includes the fuel cell section, the production Scenic that will arrive 2024 should use the CMF-EV architecture already used by Megane E-Tech Electric and Nissan Ariya, and it is logical to expect that the engine electric, with batteries up to 90kWh, can guarantee a range of 500 km.

4.49 meters long and 1.9 wide, Scénic Vision is 'only' one cm less than its 1996 progenitor (1.59 m compared to 1.60) and yet boasts a wheelbase of 2,835 mm, much more generous than the model of the 1990s which had, as known, only ICE engines and reached 2,580 mm.

A further demonstration of how the transition to electric allows a complete redesign of the passenger compartment and therefore unparalleled onboard comfort while maintaining compact external dimensions.
