Why it's urgent to get teens moving, especially girls

Sporty and dynamic, teenagers?

Not always… In any case, not physically active enough with regard to health recommendations in this area: they should do at least 60 minutes of physical activity per day and spend as little time as possible sitting down.

However, 8 out of 10 French teenagers are not there.

The situation has been deteriorating for years, and the Covid would have only made things worse, with certain categories of the population struggling to regain their level of activity before 2020.

Within this general trend, girls are particularly vulnerable.

While the gender gap remains small among children, it widens over time during adolescence: only 20% of young girls aged 11 to 14 reach the recommendations of 60 minutes of physical activity per day, compared to 34% of boys, according to the Esteban survey (Public Health France) published in 2015.
