The Pakistani Foreign Ministry confirmed that the assassination of Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps and Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis, deputy head of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Organization, was a violation of Iraqi sovereignty and threatened peace in the region.
The Pakistani Foreign Ministry said in a statement today reported by the Iranian Fars News Agency that "the current circumstances as a result threaten peace and security in the region," explaining that "respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity is one of the main principles of the United Nations Charter that should be respected by all countries."
The statement called for the necessity of limiting unilateral steps aimed at reducing tensions in the Middle East.
The spokesman for the popular crowd in Iraq announced at dawn today the death of General Soleimani and the engineer due to an American missile attack that targeted their car after they left Baghdad Airport.
