Coronavirus: more than 130,000 dead worldwide

The new coronavirus pandemic has killed more than 130,000 people worldwide, including more than two-thirds in Europe, since its appearance in China in December, according to a report compiled by AFP from official sources Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. GMT.

A total of 131,319 deaths have been recorded worldwide (for 2,029,917 cases), including 88,716 in Europe (1,032,227 cases), the continent most affected. The United States was the country with the highest number of deaths (26,950), ahead of Italy (21,645), Spain (18,579) and France (17,167).
