The new coronavirus pandemic has killed more than 140,000 people worldwide, including nearly two-thirds in Europe, since its appearance in China in December, according to a report prepared by AFP from official sources Thursday at 6:00 p.m. GMT.

A total of 140,902 deaths have been recorded worldwide (for 2,125,041 cases), including 92,900 in Europe (1,082,135 cases), the continent most affected. The United States is the country with the most deaths (31,590), ahead of Italy (22,170), Spain (19,130), France (17,920) and the United Kingdom (13,729).
