The new coronavirus pandemic has killed more than 120,000 people worldwide, including nearly 70% in Europe, since its appearance in China in December, according to a report drawn up by AFP from official sources at 11 a.m.

A total of 120,013 deaths have been recorded, including 81,474 in Europe, the continent most affected. The United States was the country with the most deaths (23,649), ahead of Italy (20,465), Spain (18,056) and France (14,967). Since the start of the pandemic, 1,923,390 cases have been reported worldwide, more than half of them in Europe (973,087) and more than 582,590 in the United States, the country where the pandemic is progressing most rapidly.
