The extent of the disaster in the earthquake that occurred yesterday (Saturday) in Haiti continues to become clear, with the death toll today rising to 724.

This is according to local authorities. 

The quake affected the capital Port-au-Prince as buildings collapsed and churches became ruined islands.

The videos on the network documented children and women evacuated from the ruins of buildings that collapsed when they were wounded and injured.

The scale of the destruction is enormous and it is possible that the death toll will continue to rise.

According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), the magnitude 7.2 earthquake occurred about 12 kilometers northeast of the city of San Luis du Sud yesterday, at a depth of 13 kilometers.

It should be noted that when it comes to earthquakes, the magnitude of the earthquake is important but also the conditions of the area.

The institute estimated that the casualties would be heavy, an assessment that connects to reports from the field indicating a high number of casualties.
