The United States killed an ISIS operative last night (Saturday) by attacking a UAV in Nangarhar province in eastern Afghanistan, the U.S. military said.

According to a U.S. military statement, the attack killed an ISIS operative involved in planning and carrying out the attack on Kabul airport, in which at least 170 people were killed, including 13 American soldiers.

The attack came just a day after President Joe Biden's announcement that the U.S. was planning to hunt down the bombers of the attack.

The missile was fired at a Ripper-type UAV that took off from one of the U.S. military bases in the Middle East.

According to a Reuters report, a Pentagon source said the operative was injured while in the vehicle alongside another activist, and both were apparently killed.

Other reports said only one person was killed.

The Associated Press reported that US President Joe Biden had approved the attack through the UAV, and that Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin had approved it, according to a military source.
