The diplomatic mission advised the remaining Americans in the country to refrain from arriving at the international airport following an unspecified threat • The British and Australian Foreign Ministers sent a similar alert

The complicated situation surrounding the evacuation work from Afghanistan after the Taliban's flash takeover continues to be particularly complex and explosive.

This morning (Thursday) the US stated in an official security alert that "due to security threats outside the gates we advise American citizens to refrain from traveling to the airport".

Although the official statement did not specify the specific cause, a source in the State Secretariat confirmed to CNN that there is a significant danger that Islamic State terrorists are outside the compound, involved in the crowd and awaiting action.

This is the "local branch" of ISIS known as the "Islamic State of Khorasan Province" or ISIS-K in English.

At the same time, the British Foreign Office sent a similar alert and advised British citizens to "move to a safe place and wait for instructions".

The Australian Foreign Office also warned of danger near the airport in the Afghan capital.

As you may recall, the White House pledged to evacuate the Americans from the country by the 31st of the month, which led to much criticism against President Joe Biden in what was perceived as an American escape from the country.

This is against the background of explicit threats from the Taliban leadership, which warned the West against leaving forces and extending the evacuation operation beyond the designated date.

"It will have consequences," a spokesman for the organization Suhail Shahin said this week.
