A 6.0 magnitude earthquake was recorded off the east coast of Taiwan causing severe tremors in the capital Taipei.
The Central Weather Bureau reported.
"The quake lasted a good 20 seconds with the ground moving left and right," said an AFP reporter in Taipei.
