After speaking at noon with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and lending his support to any Israeli action, the US president said, "I will remain in close contact with the prime minister, the United States stands with the State of Israel."

US President Joe Biden issued a special statement on Saturday evening: "The United States stands with Israel. We will not abandon Israel. We will allow her to defend herself."

He added, "Thousands of rockets were fired at Israeli cities. Hamas killed not only soldiers but civilians in the streets, in homes, murdered and entire families taken prisoner on one of the holiest days in the Jewish calendar. I spoke with the prime minister and said that the United States stands with Israel. Israel has the right to defend itself.

"My administration supports Israel and it's unshakable. The world is watching. I spoke with members of Congress and the King of Jordan. We make sure Israel has everything it needs. It's heartbreaking to see the families torn apart. When you lose loved ones, you lose a piece of your soul. I will remain in close contact with the Prime Minister. The United States stands with the State of Israel. We were the first country to recognize the State of Israel 75 years ago."

Earlier today, Biden spoke with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and stressed that the United States stands with Israel and fully supports Israel's right to defend itself.
