Minister Yifat Shasha Biton spoke out Tuesday evening against the outline of assistance to businesses presented last week by Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, saying that it does not provide a real solution and not only constitutes "harm to the business owners themselves but also to their employees who will be threatened with dismissal or unpaid leave in a reality that is complex for everyone."

"The outline proposed by the Ministry of Finance as assistance and compensation to business owners, in the emergency situation we are in, does not provide a real solution. This means not only harming the business owners themselves, but also their employees who will be threatened with dismissal or unpaid leave in a reality that is complex for everyone."

"In such a combat situation, the strength and resilience of the home front is important in order to cope with the challenges of prolonged fighting," she wrote, adding that "compensation and support for business owners, as well as dealing with other civilian issues, is of great importance at this time."

The minister also demanded that the socioeconomic cabinet be convened, writing: "Due to the growing distress that requires an immediate response, I request that the cabinet be convened immediately in order to determine a proper and correct outline for assistance and compensation to business owners. I am aware that there are more acceptable outlines than the Finance Ministry's outline, and it is important to make an immediate decision on the matter."
