National Security Council head Tzachi Hanegbi confirmed on Tuesday afternoon the publication in Israel Hayom that teams had been set up to deal with the day after Hamas.
At a press conference, he claimed: "We are dealing with the day after Hamas. The NSC was instructed by the prime minister to deal with this," Hanegbi said, though he added, "This day (after Hamas; A.C.) Far away."
Hanegbi referred to the ground operation in Gaza: "This is a difficult campaign. There is no fighting without a painful price. But we are a warrior people."
On Israel's goal, he said: "The goal is to destroy the operational and governmental capabilities of Hamas and Islamic Jihad. The IDF does well. Hamas, with its psychopathic leadership, must cease to exist."
Regarding the deal for the release of the hostages and captives, Hanegbi said that he "does not see one on the horizon." The head of the National Security Council referred to the Houthi launches from Yemen, which were intercepted: "This is intolerable, but we will not say here what we will do."
Regarding Hezbollah, which continues to act against Israel in the north, he said: "The day after Hamas we will have to deal with this question."
