The lack of synchronization between central and local governments is still felt, alongside the chronic budget shortage. The state orders the evacuation of the communities in the envelope, without preparing an orderly absorption model in the absorbing cities, some of which are facing the risk of collapse. Some hotels have 120 percent occupancy, and it is estimated that citizens evacuated from the south and north will have to stay there for a long time. Beyond feeding and waste disposal on an exceptional scale, how do you ensure education for children? How do you enable the continuation of a routine of employment over time?
Survivors of the atrocities did not choose to leave their homes. There are those who fled for their lives from the horror of the massacre and war crimes, and there are those who were ordered to leave by order of the state. It is the responsibility of all of us for every Israeli to feel "at home."
Residents of the Israeli envelope who were first evacuated to Eilat receive a certain response, largely thanks to the impressive mobilization of the Eilat municipality, which almost tripled its residents. The Sderot municipality, for example, has deployed an entire system of education, social workers and emotional support for its residents staying in Eilat hotels. There are similar models that we support, such as in the outskirts of Hermon, where the council takes care of a close team for each community, in every hotel to which it was evacuated. In fact, the local authority is now spread out over hotels in the territory.
The government budget for the emergency needs of the home front – it is doubtful whether it compares to the unprecedented philanthropic effort we are witnessing. Over the past two weeks, the New York Federation has invested more than NIS 120 million in strengthening the home front and the communities near Israel and the conflict line in the north, in front hospitals and in a variety of aid, emergency and security organizations.

World Jewry, and especially American Jewry, does not stand idly by, and alongside a huge lobby in Washington and huge pro-Israel rallies throughout North America, another aircraft carrier is flowing here, socio-economic, designed to support the Israeli home front.
