An indictment was filed today (Monday) against two residents of Bat Yam in their thirties for stealing money and other documents from a hotel room where citizens evacuated from southern Israel were staying.

The report of the theft was received earlier this week, when citizens of the south who were evacuated to a hotel in Tel Aviv following the war complained about the theft of a wallet with money, credit cards and various documents.

The police opened an investigation, during which the suspects arrived at the hotel in Tel Aviv and asked the cleaner to enter the room of the couple evacuated from the south, but after she refused, they waited until the cleaner opened the door and one of the suspects entered the room and took a wallet containing 3,000 shekels in cash, various documents and credit cards.

The suspects, residents of Bat Yam in their 30s, fled the scene with the loot and later used both credit cards and stole hundreds of shekels.

The suspects' detention has been extended from time to time, and today an indictment was filed against them through the Tel Aviv District Prosecution Branch and a request to detain them until the end of the proceedings, on suspicion of theft and use of a stolen credit card.
