The Central Command of the US Army announced Wednesday night (between Wednesday and Thursday) that following a series of airstrikes against American officials in Iraq and Syria, its forces carried out an airstrike against a facility in Syria used by Iran's Revolutionary Guards and groups affiliated with it.

The statement stressed that U.S. Central Command "will take all necessary steps to protect our personnel against those responsible for these attacks, and we will respond at the time and place we choose."

Earlier, Syrian sources affiliated with the Syrian opposition reported an attack on sites of pro-Iranian militias in the city of Deir ez-Zor. According to the same reports, nine militiamen were killed in the attack. On the other hand, the pro-Iranian Al-Mayadeen TV reported that a warehouse and a bakery in the city had been attacked.

Since the beginning of the war against Hamas in Gaza, pro-Iranian militias have begun operating against American bases in Syria and Iraq, using drones.
