Le Figaro Nantes
An impressive scene unfolded in the premises of the town hall of Bouguenais (Loire-Atlantique), a town bordering Nantes, this Friday at the end of the morning. At around 11:30 a.m., a man armed with a knife showed up at the reception desk before heading to the office of Mayor Sandra Impériale. "He managed to get through the guardrails that have been put in place," Karl Simler, in charge of communications, told Le Figaro.
The individual - an elderly man - managed to enter the room where the mayor was in the company of several officers. "With the help of two other people, we managed to immobilize him," says the communications officer, who was slightly stabbed in one of his arms during the action. "It's not a big deal. I disinfected and put on a bandage," reassures Karl Simler.

Psychiatric problems
Firefighters and law enforcement arrived "very quickly" on the scene, according to the officer. They were on high alert as they had been alerted to the threat posed by this man described as unhinged. "A few minutes before he burst in, the police had already been contacted by his sister because he had left the house with a knife," says Karl Simler.
The assailant, "known to the city services" because of his "psychiatric problems", was in a daze at the time of the attack, says Karl Simler, who evokes a claim linked to an urban planning problem. Taken care of by the fire brigade "for a medical problem", this man should be interned according to our information.
