Alon Shamriz, who was abducted to the Gaza Strip on October 7, was accidentally killed Friday morning by the IDF alongside the abductees Samer Fouad al-Talalqa and Yotam Haim, after they were apparently mistakenly identified as terrorists after they fled or were abandoned on the ground by their kidnappers, according to a report released this evening.
Shamriz, 26, lived in the youth neighborhood of Kfar Azza. He was about to begin a degree in computer engineering at Sapir College.

His last sign of life was received on October 7 at around 10 a.m., before his abduction. "Be strong, we love you," his brother Jonathan wrote on WhatsApp. Alon replied with a red heart.
His family, including his parents and siblings, worked hard to free him. Among other things, they took part in a delegation in Washington in order to exert pressure to release the hostages.
