The IDF confirmed to the publication on Wednesday morning that Capt. (res.) Lior Sivan, 32, from Beit Shemesh, a combat officer in the 363rd Battalion, Harel Brigade (10), fell in battle in the southern Gaza Strip.
Orly Chas, Liav's mother, the widow of Capt. (res.) Lior Sivan, is a veteran of the psychological service in the Beit Shemesh municipality. Lior and Liav recently moved to the Neve Shamir neighborhood of the city, after choosing to build their home in Beit Shemesh. Liav is currently due to give birth to their second child.
Comedian Hanoch Daum, a relative of Lior's wife, eulogized him on his Facebook account: "We were informed that Lior Sivan, who is married to sweet Liav (who is also due to give birth soon), fell in Gaza. Liav is my cousin's eldest daughter. I met Lior through her, a charming and special couple, expecting another child, about to move to a new home soon and concocted many dreams."
Beit Shemesh Mayor Dr. Aliza Bloch said, "The city of Beit Shemesh envelops and embraces the Sivan family and the Chas family upon learning of the death of Israel's hero, Captain (res.) Lior Sivan, a combat officer in the 363rd Battalion of the Harel Brigade, who fell in battle in the southern Gaza Strip. There are no words to describe the immense pain. We all salute and hurt."
His funeral will take place today at 13:00 in the Beit Shemesh cemetery.
