The outgoing VW CFO Frank Witter is to become the new supervisory board at Deutsche Bank.

Deutsche Bank announced that the 61-year-old will be elected to succeed Alexander Schütz at the institute's general meeting in May.

Schütz was criticized because of an email to the ex-boss of the collapsed Wirecard group.

He has since resigned from his mandate.

Witter brings knowledge about the requirements of corporate customers to the supervisory body and also has experience in the banking business, said supervisory board chairman Paul Achleitner.

Witter did an apprenticeship at a savings bank and has been with Volkswagen since 1992.

He leaves there in June.
