A decisive step has been taken.
EDF presented Thursday in New Delhi its finalized offer for six EPRs, third generation nuclear reactors, in Jaitapur, 400 km from Bombay.
This plant, which will have a power of 10 gigawatts (GW) and will be able to supply 70 million homes with electricity, will be the largest in the world.
It will display the equivalent of 20% of France's current nuclear capacity.

The project, launched nearly ten years ago by Areva, under the presidency of Nicolas Sarkozy, was put on hold after the accident at the Fukushima nuclear power plant in Japan.
It was also slowed down by local opponents, worried about the risk of an earthquake and degradation of local fishing.

Paris and New Delhi relaunched it in 2018, during a visit by Emmanuel Macron.
And it could obtain the approval of the Indian authorities within a few months, hopes EDF, alone in contention on this project.
