The French IT services giant Capgemini has reached an agreement to acquire the Australian company Empired, specializing in the cloud, for 233 million Australian dollars, or 145 million euros, the French company announced on Monday.

The purchase of 100% of Empired, whose turnover in 2021 should be around "186 to 188 million Australian dollars" (approximately 117 million euros), "would provide additional geographic coverage to that of Capgemini in Australia "and New Zealand, especially in" the mining industry, energy and the public sector, "said the company in a statement.

She hopes to finalize the operation by mid-November 2021.

Capgemini has embarked on numerous acquisitions in Australia, as Empired will be its fourth in 18 months on the island continent.

Empired has “1,000 professionals” in Australia and New Zealand and its acquisition would position Capgemini as “a leader in digital, data and cloud in this region,” says the French giant.

The deal remains subject to approval by Empired shareholders and court approval, Capgemini said.
