The value of the support provided by the Agricultural Production Support Fund at the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform to secure production requirements for farmers during 2021 exceeded 23 billion Syrian pounds, distributed to support the improved seed distributed to farmers and fodder to livestock breeders, in addition to supporting greenhouses and silkworm breeders, among others.
Fund manager, Lama Al-Junaidi, indicated in a statement to SANA that during this year, the seeds were subsidized by 15.7 billion pounds to the General Organization for Seed Multiplication to compensate for the price difference between the cost of production and the subsidized selling price and to pay the price difference between the cost of the rationed fodder distributed to livestock breeders and the subsidized selling price, which It amounted to about 2 billion Syrian pounds.
Al-Junaidi pointed out that the support included agricultural products that were identified according to priorities and which the ministry believes should be encouraged, such as greenhouses of different types of crops grown in them, at 40,000 Syrian pounds for one planned and organized house, with a total amount of 3.2 billion Syrian pounds, and silk worm breeders at an amount of 3.2 million Syrian pounds. .
Al-Junaidi pointed out that the Fund, in coordination with the relevant directorates, is conducting a study to assess the impact of the support provided to the crops and agricultural products covered by the subsidy, in order to reach the mechanism and the correct amounts to be provided, so that the support becomes more feasible and achieves its goals and purpose.
