The Directorate of Agriculture in Al-Hasakah Governorate estimated the primary production of the cotton crop planted for the current season with a quantity of approximately 19 thousand tons.
The head of the Department of Plant Production in the Directorate of Agriculture, Engineer Jalal Bilal, said in a statement to SANA reporter that according to the field visits and the follow-up of the reality of the fields planted with the cotton crop by the agricultural departments spread throughout the governorate, the initial estimates of the production of one hectare of the crop are approximately 3250 kilograms on average in various regions agricultural stability.
Engineer Bilal pointed out that the reality of the crop's growth is good and no major insect infestations were recorded in the fields, which are sporadic and below the economic threshold, pointing out that the crop is currently in the process of germinating the walnut, and it is expected to start picking it after the middle of next month.
It is noteworthy that the area planted with the cotton crop in Al-Hasakah Governorate for the current season amounted to 5910 hectares.
