The $ 2,000 bill entered circulation

This was confirmed by the Central Bank, in a statement sent to the press. Gradually, the largest denomination banknotes will be distributed so far. They will have the image of the Malbrán Institute, and Dr. Cecilia Grierson and Dr. Ramón Carrillo, precursors in the development of medicine in our country,

"The BCRA puts into circulation the commemorative bill of $ 2,000 of legal tender. Which will be distributed progressively through the network of bank branches throughout the country, "said the entity.

The BCRA clarified that "the new legal commemorative banknote, which integrates the current Peso Line, is distinguished from the other denominations by presenting as predominant colors shades of dark gray and pink, with the portraits of Grierson and Carrillo on the obverse, while on the reverse the building of the National Institute of Microbiology Dr. Carlos G. Malbrán is represented, in homage to science and public health in Argentina."

In that sense, the BCRA clarified that "the commemorative $ 2,000 bill has strict security measures. Among them, the watermark that reproduces the images of Ramón Carrillo and Cecilia Grierson and the optical variability ink that changes color, with a three-dimensional dynamic effect, stand out. In addition, it presents microprints, latent image, front-back complementation motif and magnetic, infrared and luminescent inks."

In addition, "regarding the facilities for people with blindness, it incorporates a new identification code with relief perceptible to the touch".

$2,000 bill: security measures

The departure of the $ 2,000 bill was announced in February of this year by the Central Bank (BCRA) and its departure was scheduled only for the second semester. However, as Clarín confirmed at the beginning of May, the bill finally saw the light a few days before the end of the month.

The Argentine Mint (CMA) had reported, at that time, that "it was able to streamline production processes and advance delivery times of the contracted products."
