The planned citizen beer garden on Schlossberg is taking shape.

Yesterday the building committee decided on a corresponding usage concept.

The good news: there will be a bar and a mobile toilet.

The bad: Nothing will come of the opening next spring.

Dachau

- By definition, preparation is "an activity through which a product is created according to a cooking recipe (culinary art) from certain ingredients or raw materials according to a given process".

A grilled chicken, a meat loaf or a bratwurscht must be prepared accordingly - and are not allowed in the future citizen beer garden of the city on the Schlossberg.

On the other hand, a number of other leisure activities are allowed, as the building and environmental committee unanimously decided yesterday when determining the usage concept for the beer garden.

As reported several times, the restaurant and the almost 1000 square meter beer garden of the former Schlossberg brewery have been closed since 2009. The former bottling plant was demolished in 2014 and the three-year conversion into an apartment building was completed this summer. Before that, however, the property owner, Sedlmayr Grund- und Immobilien KGaA, had given the city the former beer garden - subject to certain conditions.

In compliance with these contractual obligations - which forbid the said preparation of warm dishes on the site for reasons of smell, as well as "musical performances of any kind", the operation of "open fire places" and "events with the use of loudspeaker systems" - and their own considerations City councilors now have the following beer garden concept: The facility is open daily from April to October until 10 p.m. at the latest. Citizens can bring their own food, but there should be a bar in the form of a drinks trolley. Anything else, according to ÜB City Councilor Ingrid Sedlbauer, made little sense, because: "I don't think that everyone who carries their bottles up there will take them back with them afterwards." Sören Schneider (SPD) also found:"A beer garden without a bar is like a beer without foam."

The city councils were also unanimous on the toilet issue. The administration had suggested either setting up mobile toilets - for example in the form of wagons or Dixi toilets - or showing the beer garden users the way to the public toilets "downhill at the Kochwirt's", which would be "within walking distance". City councilor Sedlbauer found, with a nod of agreement from her colleagues: "A toilet at the chef's not even possible!"

Thomas Kreß (Greens) thought long-term: Wouldn't it be possible to put up another car later? So one trolley for food, one for drinks? Here the mayor and building authority manager Moritz Reinhold made hope. Ultimately, according to Reinhold, the usage restriction only applies to the property transferred from Sedlmayr Grund- und Immobilien KGaA. “There is still urban space around it,” says Reinhold. The reason that the city council now had to commit itself to a fixed usage concept is - as is so often the case - because of the money: The city receives a grant of 144,000 from the government of Upper Bavaria for its project “Green area with temporary bar on the Schlossberg” Euro; In view of the total costs of around 185,000 euros, this is a considerable sum.For this, however, a description of the operation including the usage concept must be available in Munich in due time.

The city will submit the application on time.

The spring 2022 opening date announced in July cannot be kept.

Because of the “necessary further coordination and approvals” - among other things, a noise protection report is now required - commissioning will take “significantly more time”.

After all: Gertrud Schmidt-Podolsky (CSU) is convinced that noise protection should not be a problem.

Because of the much scolded car posers on the Schlossberg, she laughed, “we have already used up the noise levels”.
