The General Establishment for Land Reclamation put the Sub-Hittin water pumping station into service in the Maskana East project in Aleppo, after rehabilitating it after stopping work five years ago due to terrorist acts, in cooperation with the United Nations World Food Program and irrigating an area of 700 hectares of high agricultural land.
Engineer Rabie Al-Ali, Director General of the General Establishment for Land Reclamation, told SANA reporter that the station secures the pumping of 1 cubic meter per second to irrigate the Hittin community and the neighboring villages whose lands were flooded with the waters of Lake Tishreen Dam.
He explained that the Foundation worked hard to restore life to irrigation projects in the Euphrates basin, which includes the governorates of Aleppo, Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor, where about 97 thousand hectares were rehabilitated after being destroyed by terrorism to agricultural investment to contribute to achieving food security and the return of thousands of displaced persons to their villages and farms, and the two projects of Maskana West were introduced. In operation and investment in Aleppo Governorate, with an area of 34,107 hectares, and Maskanah East, with an area of 17,800 hectares, of which 7,292 hectares belong to Raqqa Governorate.
According to Al-Ali, the project of the Al-Assad agricultural facility was set up with investment in the current winter season with an area of 17,000 hectares, and 3000 hectares were entered into service in the project to irrigate the southern Aleppo plains, and a project to draw 4 cubic meters per second of the water of the Euphrates River in service to the Queiq River, including one meter cubic per second for the industrial city of Sheikh Najjar.
