A meeting held by the Governor of Homs, Eng. Namir Makhlouf, today with the directors of the concerned authorities in the governorate, focused on taking all readiness measures and ways to provide support in all its aspects to the affected governorates, due to the earthquake that occurred at dawn today.

During the meeting, the governor stressed the necessity of uniting all efforts, including institutions and individuals, and taking everything that would mitigate the effects of the earthquake, and to develop an emergency plan and readiness to avoid its consequences, and to inspect all mechanisms and secure fuel immediately when support is needed.

Eng. Makhlouf called for the readiness of civil societies, the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, and volunteers from the local community, to contribute to rescue, aid, and shelter operations for those affected, and to mobilize all police units to protect citizens' property.

In turn, the directors of the concerned authorities in the governorate presented their work plans and their willingness to provide the required support to those affected.

In a statement to reporters after the meeting, the head of the readiness department in Homs governorate, Hayan Odeh, indicated that the readiness department in the province is in a state of complete alert, and all areas of the province have been probed, and to date, no collapses, slips, or cracks of buildings have been found, with the exception of a house under construction in the village of Jabriya and a minaret. A mosque in the Qusayr region.

Odeh pointed out that the numbers of the operations room were circulated to all units and public sector agencies, and support was provided to the Aleppo governorate and five ambulances were sent, in addition to sending two civil defense vehicles to Lattakia governorate and a rescue vehicle to Hama governorate.

In a similar statement, the Director of Homs Education, Walid al-Mar'i, indicated that schools were contacted through educational complexes throughout the governorate, and no damage was recorded except for light damage, which consisted of some glass windows.

For his part, the head of the Engineers Syndicate branch in Homs, Eng. Khalil Jadid, referred to the mobilization of the teams working in the Syndicate, and the formation of technical advisory teams to reach any site that might have been exposed to cracks in order to remedy any results that occur with the setbacks that occur and to inspect the buildings that the Syndicate had previously valued. and reconsidered to take appropriate action.

In a statement to SANA reporter, the head of Homs city council, Eng. Abdullah al-Bawab, said that a partial collapse occurred as a result of the earthquake of a damaged and uninhabited property on Omar Ibn al-Khattab Street in the Jouret al-Shayah neighborhood, pointing out that the area is uninhabited and damaged by the terrorist war on Syria.
