With all due respect to the riots in Jerusalem, we have all ignored the important news of the day

In the meantime, right on the sidelines, it has been reported that public medicine in Israel, the one we all embraced this year, is about to return to the dark days of before 2020.

A story that will not be talked about at length in editions.

Everyone remembers Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech.

He had equally important speeches, but everyone remembers the "dream" because of the strong image, because of the poetic lines, because of the preachy tonation.

Quite ironically, Dr. King disliked this speech.

He claimed to be too dreamy on the one hand, and too preachy on the other.

Three years after the famous speech he attended a conference of the Medical Committee for Human Rights, and delivered a few other, more specific things.

"Of all the forms of inequality, injustice in medicine is the most shocking and inhuman of all," King argued.

He was right, but we forgot it.

We tend to ignore injustices in medicine until it comes to us close to home.

A sick grandmother whose condition has deteriorated due to negligent treatment.

David trying to get protections to advance an urgent MRI appointment scheduled for another year.

A brother or sister who dehydrates for hours in the emergency room without anyone treating them, simply because they do not seem to be suffering enough.

Anyone who has never experienced humiliation or a sense of helplessness in the face of our public health system should go and send a lottery form urgently, this is a rare case of good luck.

Bottom of priority.

We tend to wish each other health. The Western Wall is full of notes with prayers for complete healing and longevity. Prayers do not cost money. In practice, health and medicine are at the bottom of the public agenda. Even after a severe administrative crisis that resulted in the deaths of thousands of Israelis, still no election campaign here will address this critical issue that concerns the lives of all of us in the most critical way possible. Despite all the bureaucratic failures, and despite the fact that we have learned firsthand the cost of neglecting the health care system, the role of the health minister is still considered an unimportant role in government, one that parties are offended when offered.

An old saying goes that you should respect the doctor as long as you do not need him.

The State of Israel is making great efforts to prove the correctness of this proverb, as these days the Ministry of Finance intends to reduce 600 medical standards in hospitals that were absorbed in 2020 during the corona crisis.

This means, in fact, the dismissal of 600 doctors.

It is important to note that before the Corona crisis the hospitals were in a state of great lack of standards, and the Ministry of Health claims that the Ministry of Finance has promised that the standards added in 2020 will become permanent.

Ministry of Finance officials claim: There is no budget.

In response, the Medical Association decided to announce a 24-hour doctors' strike.

The hospitals will work today on a Saturday basis.

The outpatient clinics were sitting, as were some of the HMO doctors.

A large demonstration by doctors is expected to take place in Habima Square in Tel Aviv.

Dark days.

You may not have heard of it. Your mother may have an appointment today for a test scheduled six months ago and no one will get it. that's how it is. The news editions reported extensively yesterday on the riots in Jerusalem, on the attempts to form a government, on the rocket fire from Gaza, some more gossip about the police commissioner, some human color articles about the failure in Meron, some political spins from Netanyahu's seminary. It was reported that public medicine in Israel, the one we have all embraced in the past year and said thank you to, is about to return to the dark days of before 2020.

When Martin Luther King spoke of injustice in medicine, he meant on the patients' side.

In capitalist America not everyone is entitled to the same medical care.

Money speaks, and so does skin color.

Studies show that even today African-Americans receive less good medical care than whites.

But injustice also exists with us on the part of doctors.

It is impossible to make complaints to the health system that does not function in an emergency situation, if in routine situations its existence is simply ignored.

It is easy to blame the Knesset members and the government (mainly because they are guilty), but do a short Google search and see how many articles were published in the big news companies about the doctors' strike that is taking place today compared to the amount of articles written about the (shocking) robbery at Eran Zehavi's house.

Think about which of the more information will affect your life and that of the people closest to you.

Received many more articles.

2. Still in the genre of medicine and TV items that will not bring great ratings, here 11 the reporter Nofar Moshe presented documentation that would open editions in any normal country, one that does not have holy places and missile interception on a daily basis.

Documentation that is difficult to view from "Neve HaIros", a closed institution for the disabled in Ness Ziona, reveals abuse, sexual abuse of tenants and negligence that in one case led to permanent physical disability and even death.

This is a journalistic story that is supposed to change reality, not to mention the awards that the journalists who worked for it are supposed to receive.

In practice, you probably will not hear too much about this story today.

It is likely that in a few days no one will remember the phrase "oasis".

Apparently, Nofar Moshe's face will also remain anonymous.

An opportunity to pay tribute to journalists who are still doing their job for its essence.

People who work to expose injustices and strive for the truth, and not for self-glorification.

It's so obvious, so rare, and quite sad when you think about it.

So now he supports terrorism?

3. By the way brave journalists, Channel 20 sent a push message to its followers yesterday with the following message (we did not touch): "The party supporting terrorists RAAM has agreed with Bennett to support him to form a government with the left." Many talk about the death of the subtext, but must take off the hat To the members of Channel 20 who decided to make him a dizzying killing confirmation. In a sense and a bit perverted, it is better to accept these so-called-journalistic reports in such a blatant way than the more subtle allusions, which end up saying the same thing in the mainstream channels.
