The body of the young man, missing, was found in the river on July 29.
A year later, his family demanded justice and 85 people filed a collective complaint.
This Thursday, the Rennes prosecutor's office confirms that Steve has fallen into the Loire “during the intervention of the national police”.
The analysis of the telephone records of the young man "made it possible to locate the moment of the fall of Steve Maia Caniço in the Loire at 4 hours and 33 minutes, that is to say in the time of the intervention of the national police" on the quay Wilson, said the public prosecutor, Philippe Astruc.
He announced the summons in July of several people, including two police officers.

The investigations focused initially on finding all of the technical elements making it possible to determine the very precise time and place of the victim's fall in the Loire.
The precise geolocation of the young man on the Quai Wilson at the time of his fall in the Loire has not, "on the contrary, been able to be technically established", specifies the prosecution of the Rennes judicial court in a press release. "The testimonies collected allow however to locate it in the zone without barrier concerned by four other falls concomitant with the intervention of the police force".
