Two doses effective against the Delta variant
Two doses of vaccines authorized in Europe appear to protect against the highly contagious Delta variant, according to the European Medicines Agency (EMA).
Four vaccines are currently authorized within the European Union by the EMA: Pfizer / BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson.

Nearly four million dead
The pandemic has killed at least 3,949,567 people around the world since the end of December 2019, according to an assessment established by AFP from official sources on Thursday.
The United States is the most affected country in number of deaths (605,010), followed by Brazil (520,095), India (399,459), Mexico (233,047) and Peru (192,331).
These figures, which are based on daily reports from national health authorities, are generally underestimated.
The WHO estimates that the toll of the pandemic could be two to three times higher.
