Two people were taken into custody on Monday after the discovery, the day before, of the body of a man shot dead in a Var station, we learned from the public prosecutor.

The homicide suspect, identified by investigators, was arrested Monday at the Gare de Lyon in Paris, "while he had fled with his companion and his child," said the prosecutor of Draguignan , Guy Bouchet, in a press release.

The investigators were able to find his trace thanks to the use of the video surveillance of the cameras present on the forecourt of the station, specifies Var-Matin.

This revealed that around 5:30 am, a vehicle came up to the victim, before firing twice, fatally hitting her in the chest.

Thanks to the registration plate reading, the gendarmes then managed to geolocate the car in the parking lot of the Aix-en-Provence TGV station.

The couple were taken into custody and a judicial investigation should be opened within the next 48 hours.

According to information from the newspaper Var-Matin, both the suspect and the victim would be well known to the judicial authorities.

A quarrel born in a nightclub could be the motive for this murder.

Sunday, around 5:30 am, the lifeless body of a man had been discovered by the users of the SNCF station of Les Arcs in Provence.

Several rifled ammunition cases were present near the body.

According to the first testimonies, the victim was shot dead by two shots fired by a man, who then fled in a vehicle.

The prosecution was not able to immediately specify the age or domicile of the victim.

He stressed, however, that it was a young man already known to the judiciary.

The investigation was entrusted to the services of the research section of the national gendarmerie supported by the staff of the Draguignan research brigade.
