Two men in their twenties were indicted, including one for murder, and imprisoned after the discovery of the body of one of their acquaintances, buried in a forest in the Vosges, we learned on Saturday from one of their lawyers.
The main suspect, born in 2000 and who had only one entry in his criminal record, admitted the murder while in police custody at the weekend, according to his lawyer Sébastien Bonnet.
His client, who risks life imprisonment, “understood the seriousness of his gesture, it was a relief for him,” added Me Bonnet.
Another defendant was indicted for "concealing a corpse" and "altering the crime scene" before being also remanded in custody.
Date of death unknown
A third man is being prosecuted for "not denouncing a crime", he was left free under judicial supervision.
According to a source familiar with the matter, the alleged murderer was in conflict with the victim, a 23-year-old man, who was his supplier of narcotics in Nancy and to whom he owed a debt: he said he acted in "self-defense" because according to him the victim would have first stabbed him in the arm.
After having recognized during his police custody having killed the victim with a knife, the presumed murderer indicated to the police the place where he had buried the body, in the forest of Epinal.
The period to which the facts go back remains unclear.
According to the newspaper L'Est Républicain, an autopsy should take place on Monday, which will allow to know more in particular about the approximate date of death.
Also according to the daily, the police had arrested a total of ten people on Wednesday in connection with this case.
Seven were released without prosecution.
