A gendarme from the Rives-en-Seine brigade (new town of Caudebec-en-Caux), northwest of Rouen, was indicted and placed in detention in early January for aggravated rape by a person in authority.
According to Paris-Normandie, a woman went to the Caux-Vallée de Seine intermunicipal hospital center for a consultation.
She told medical staff that she had been raped by a gendarme.
She then filed a complaint citing him by name.
During his police custody, on January 4, the soldier would have "recognized a sexual act, but it was, according to him, consented", declared Frédéric Teillet, the public prosecutor of Rouen in Ouest-France.
After his indictment, he was remanded in custody on January 5.
The investigation was entrusted to the research section of the Rouen gendarmerie.
