One of the 'sporty' icons of the Volkswagen Golf range turns twenty.
In the summer of 2002, the German company launched on the market one of the sportiest compact models in its category, the first Golf R323, powered by a 3.2-liter, 241 HP six-cylinder engine which made it the most powerful. never produced by Volkswagen.
Four-wheel drive, marked dynamics, ad hoc design and equipment were the ingredients at the basis of its 'racing' soul.
Since then, the fastest letter in the alphabet has found favor with an international community of fans, which has allowed the German house to sell over 260,000 R models worldwide.
Today, just to celebrate its important birthday, Volkswagen R has decided to produce a dedicated model, with the name of Golf R 20 Years.
If the current Golf R2 with its 235 kW (320 hp) turbocharged TSI engine already distinguishes itself from the traditional eighth-generation Golf in terms of power, thanks to the special engine technology, the Golf R 20 Years is actually superior to any Golf so far marketed.
With its 2.0-liter, 245 kW (333 hp) turbocharged four-cylinder engine, it exceeds the power of the current Golf R2 by 13 hp, making it the most powerful Golf ever produced.
In terms of equipment, the Golf R 20 Years is equipped as standard with the 'R-Performance' package of the Golf 8 R (with Torque Vectoring R-Performance in combination with the Driving Dynamics Manager and the additional driving profiles' Special 'and' Drift ').
The new special model is also enhanced by specially designed highlights.
At the rear, the roof spoiler emphasizes the racing look of the car.
In addition, the Golf R 20 Years comes with 19 "Estoril alloy wheels as standard. Other new features of the celebratory model are the dashboard and door trim with decorative carbon inserts.
