"Shooter World: A New World" is absurdly long, but not as bad as everyone has written

"Jurassic World: A New World," the final episode in the sequel to "Jurassic Park," is as clumsy as a dinosaur in a china shop, and its length is arbitrary and outrageous.

However, it has two of the sweeping action scenes of the year, and lots of interesting ideas

Star rating for movies - 3 stars (Photo: image processing,.)

A few months ago, the comedy film "The Capsule" appeared on Netflix, and despite all the stars appearing in it, it was soon forgotten.

For those who do not remember, or did not watch in the first place, we will mention that it deals with the behind the scenes of a film about people and dinosaurs shot during the Corona, with various restrictions and capsules, and was based on the production story of "Shooter World".

This past weekend, the real "Shooter World: A New World" was also released in Israel and around the world.

This is the third and final part in the modern sequel trilogy of the film series, which was launched about thirty years ago with the groundbreaking hit by Steven Spielberg.

The plot is complex and twisted.

We will try to shorten and simplify it.

This time too, obviously, the story takes place against the backdrop of a universe where humans and dinosaurs are once again part of the same food chain.

Some of the giant creatures want to eat us, some want to eat each other, and some are less thirsty for blood.

As much as one can look for focus in the diffuse scenario, he occasionally focuses on two genetic experiments.

In one case, as it is commonly declared today, "the experiment failed," leading to huge locusts swarming crops around the world and threatening to degenerate it into a global hunger crisis.

In the second case, the experiment is successful and allows the scientist to reproduce without mating, and to upgrade the genetic load of her offspring, making her the most wanted girl in the world, which people with malicious intentions seek to get their hands on.

Similar to "Do Not Look Up", here too the arch-villain is a billionaire with an unstoppable vision, which is clearly inspired by Steve Jobs, Elon Musk and the like.

Here, he is played by Campbell Scott.

Opposite are the two stars of the previous two episodes of the trilogy, played by Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, two who have managed to find a common language with the dinosaurs and with nature in general, and strive only for the good.

But the real attraction is the presence of Jeff Goldblum, Laura Daren and Sam Neil - the three stars of the original film, who are reunited here for the first time since their appearance in the original hit in 1993.

Nowadays, we are already used to the fact that such performances are nothing more than a curiosity, so it is important to note that the three characters are dominant in the plot, and the more it develops, the more active they are.

In light of the historical union between the three, and in light of the historical circumstances as well in which the film was shot, it could be assumed that it would hit theaters with a little more enthusiasm around it.

Instead, it was released with a certain indifference, and in the face of lukewarm reviews, some of which even described it as "the worst of all the 'shooter' films made over the years."

As usual, the reviews are exaggerated.

Usually they exaggerate for the better, this time they exaggerate for the worse.

First of all, it is difficult to notice that the film was shot under any restrictions.

The production is impressive, and looks great on a big screen.

In the middle of the road, two of this year's sweeping action scenes also await us.

When contracted, it is difficult to understand what the world is complaining about.

Historical union.

The gameplay views are all excellent.

Goldblum-Daren-Neil is a trio that is not seen every day.

Three of the best craftsmen in the area, who have disconnected the autopilot and take this union very seriously, as if this is the first time they have met dinosaurs in their lifetime.

The younger generation is also at its best.

Chris Pratt has grown and evolved and there is no reason not to define him as a young heir to Harrison Ford.

If he had been born in another era, when movie stars have a different status, he would have been a huge star.

Thanks to his sensitivity, the character in his character has a stick that works over and over again: the ability to create non-verbal communication with dinosaurs using his hands.

This leads to two charming and inspiring scenes.

The script is too busy, but some interesting ideas can be extracted from it.

One of them, the preoccupation with global hunger and the wheat crisis, became several times more relevant after the production of the film because of the war in Ukraine and its consequences.

Today's Harrison Ford.

At one point in the film, one of the characters shouts "We don't have time for complications".

Director Colin Trevor, who directed the first episode of the trilogy and was involved in the script for the second, actually has.

He and his partners spread "The World of the Shooter: A New World" over two and a half hours, an absurd length and without any justification in this case.

Why should we be presented with two fighting dinosaurs, and about an hour (or half an hour, or two hours, who counts?) Repeat the exact same scene?

odd.

As is customary nowadays, the script also tries to compress into the plot every possible character, sometimes because of a desire to squint at all the audiences and / or cling to the spirit of the time.

At the very least, unlike "Godzilla vs. Kong" and "Demon Mowers: The Life After," there is no podcast character here.

Yes there is a character of a black combat squadron and probably also a lesbian.

As is customary in the hypocritical, conservative and cowardly Hollywood of today, the film marks V for her sexual orientation through one sentence she says and is content with that.

In Hebrew, this is called "going out by duty."

And finally - arch-villains here do not have enough teeth.

He is neither intimidating nor cunning, and unlike the billionaire in "Do Not Look Up," not even eccentric, but just pale and gray.

It is difficult to look at him and believe that it is precisely with him that the danger to the future of humanity lies.

Like a dinosaur in a china shop.

These shortcomings do not justify the overthrow of the "shooter world: the new world."

It's a clumsy movie like a dinosaur in a china shop, but it has a lot of soul and intellect and mostly a lot of good will.

When the screening ended and I looked at the clock, I was amazed to find out what time it was, and yet I did not feel like I was wasting time.

Thanks to the charisma and humor of the actors and actresses and the momentum of the action scenes, the result overall provides an immersive and enjoyable viewing experience, and also leaves us with topical and thought-provoking questions about our relationship with nature.

Unlike "The Capsule," this film is not easy to forget so quickly.
