With his political escapades on Twitter, Elon Musk is increasingly annoying Tesla drivers.

If you want to switch to another brand, you will find good alternatives to the Model Y.

Electric car drivers choose green or left, have an understanding of climate stickers and don't even notice that their electric cars lack a decent sound: That's the cliché that many combustion engine fans have towards customers of Tesla and Co.

But the reality is different.

The Texan e-car pioneer in particular is finding increasing approval among conservative contemporaries in the USA, who until recently had nothing better than their pick-up truck with a V8 engine.

This is also credited to CEO Elon Musk, who uses his new acquisition Twitter to position himself politically on the far right.

Since Tesla's image is strongly linked to its boss, the political attitude is now rubbing off on the product - and bothers some (potential) customers.

Satirist Jan Böhmermann tweeted: "It's a shame that buying a Tesla has now become a political decision."

But while there was hardly any alternative to the US manufacturer for electro fans a few years ago, they now find a wide range on offer.
