If anyone had any doubts about the price trend of new cars in Israel, the new Nissan Xtrail launched this morning is the clearest illustration of the direction the car market is going.
Cheap multi-seater transportation solutions, expensive equipped and electrified crossovers do not exist.
With a price that starts at NIS 199,000 for the entry-level version, it joins the line of 7-seat crossovers that set the price range starting at about NIS 200,000.
Which leaves the Chery Tigo 8 as the only alternative below this threshold for families who need an extended seating solution.
The Chinese costs NIS 168,000 and will remain the cheapest in the category until the arrival of the hybrid Dacia Jogger soon, slightly later than the original plan.
This is the fourth generation of Nissan's crossover and the second to offer the current recipe of the 7-seat configuration that the previous generation started.
But it also marks Nissan's move to completely new powertrains on offer.

The new X-Trail sits on a platform shared by it and the current Mitsubishi Outlander.
Nissan is talking about a lighter and stiffer chassis than before with the use of a multi-joint rear suspension that should provide better driving comfort than before.
In terms of dimensions, with an overall length of 4.7 meters, it adds a total of 4 cm compared to the outgoing generation and without any change in the wheelbase, which stands at 2.7 meters, quite modest compared to a 7-seater vehicle. The space in the third row is reduced accordingly.
For convenient access to the second row of seats, it moves on a rail and the side doors open at an angle of up to 86 degrees. The trunk officially adds 40 liters to 485 liters, but with all seats in use it stops at 120 liters, about 15 liters less than before. The trunk has a system of modular partitions that allow it to be arranged for packing convenient equipment.
Serial hybrid drive systems (photo: manufacturer's website)
The new generation is launched in Israel with three drive configurations, all three electrified to one degree or another.
At the base of the offer will be offered a light hybrid version with a battery that provides the possibility to extend the dwell times with the engine off for the engine bleeding system while standing.
A 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine with a variable compression ratio is used here, this is a version of the engine with similar technology found in the Infiniti.
The engine provides 163 hp and 30.6 kg.
The drive is front and the gearbox is continuous.
Performance: 9.6 seconds for 100 and 200 km/h maximum. Official fuel consumption: 13.5 km per liter.
Above it is the E-POWER drive version.
Here it is a drive system known as a serial hybrid.
The gasoline engine from the base version is used only as a generator, which charges a 1.73 kWh battery, which supplies electricity to the power unit that drives the front wheels. The power climbs to 204 hp and the torque is 33.6 kgm. Performance: 8 seconds for 100 and 170 km "S most.
This drive version comes in a 5-seat configuration only.
The official fuel consumption: 15 km per liter.
At the top of the drive range is the E FORCE version. The basic idea is similar - the same engine, the same arrangement of an engine that serves as a generator, only this time one that drives two electric motors, front and rear, which create a dual drive with the ability Separate control of each wheel. The combined power is 213 hp and 33.6 kg. Official fuel consumption: 16.7 km per liter.
The performance here is 7.2 seconds to 100 and a maximum speed of 180 km/h.
The wheelbase is 270 cm (photo: manufacturer website)
The Xtrail will be offered in three trim levels in three drivetrain configurations;
Asante Top, Asante Tech and Tekna, with the mild hybrid version also having the entry-level version Visia.
In terms of equipment, the base model comes with a 7-inch dashboard, climate control, air conditioning outlets for the rear seat, a floating central console, and more.
The trim level above it, the Asante Top adds, among other things, an 8-inch multimedia system with Apple and Android compatibility, a leather steering wheel, split climate control, a double panoramic roof and a smart key.
The Asante Tech adds inches to the multimedia system to a size of 12 inches, a BOSE audio system, a 12.3 inch dashboard and more.
The Tacna trim level adds separate climate control for the rear seats, leather upholstery (vegan), heating for the front seats that are also electrically adjustable, wireless charging, an electric trunk, overhead display, and more.
The safety systems include rear cross traffic warning, automatic braking, lane departure correction with lane center maintenance, sign recognition, warning of a vehicle in a "dead zone", parking assistance and more.

The prices of the model start at NIS 199,000 for the 7-seat Visia trim level with the 1.5-liter light hybrid engine, the Asante Top trim level will cost NIS 220,000, the Asante Tech NIS 233,000 and up to NIS 245,000 for this engine in the Tacna trim level.
The E POWER version with the single electric motor and 5 seats starts at NIS 234,000 for the Asante Top, NIS 243,000 for the Asante Tech and up to NIS 255,000 for the Tacna.
The top version, with the two E FORCE electric motors, will start at 250,000 shekels for the Asante Top, go up to 263,000 shekels for the Asante Tech and up to 275,000 shekels for the top-of-the-line vehicle.
These are prices that push the Xtrail into competition above the top versions of its natural competitors such as the Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace and Mitsubishi Outlander and kiss those of larger vehicles such as the Hyundai Santa Fe and Kia Sorento.
