The Beirut Scholars Association condemned the attempt of the Israeli occupation to assassinate Bishop Atallah Hanna, Archbishop of Sebastia of the Greek Orthodox, describing it as a "sinful and cowardly attempt."
In a statement today, the commission expressed its condemnation of this terrorist act to undermine a national figure known to stand firm in the face of Judaization and support the resistance of the occupation with courage and steadfastness at a time when reactionary regimes are calling for normalization with the usurping occupier of Islamic and Christian holy sites.
Bishop Hanna announced in a press conference the day before yesterday in a hospital in Amman that he was poisoned after inhaling chemicals that were sprayed inside the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate in occupied Jerusalem, stressing that all indications are that the Israeli occupation is behind the incident.
